Using Invisalign Clear Aligners to Straighten Your Smile

You may have heard of Invisalign clear aligners if you’re considering orthodontic treatment to improve your smile. Invisalign is growing in popularity as an alternative to metal braces, and with good reason. Invisalign clear aligners are virtually invisible, so no one will even know that you are straightening your teeth unless you tell them! They are one of the best alternatives to traditional metal braces for patients in the East Point, Georgia area who visit our team at BLUSH Dental Studio.

How does Invisalign invisible teeth straightening work?

Invisalign clear dental aligners are made of a smooth, comfortable plastic that is almost invisible when worn. They gently move your teeth into place over time. You will need to wear your Invisalign aligners for 20 – 22 hours per day, taking them out only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. You will visit our dentists every six to eight weeks so we can check your progress and give you new aligners. The entire treatment takes an average of 12 months, although it can be shorter or longer depending on the individual patient.

What are the benefits of Invisalign as “invisible braces?”

Invisalign clear aligners are more comfortable to wear than traditional braces. There are no uncomfortable metal wires or brackets to irritate your mouth, and you can remove them for eating and brushing your teeth. They also provide a discreet way to enhance the smile without covering it with metal appliances. Invisalign aligner trays easily pop in and out for easy care and are a popular choice for both adults and teenagers.

What is Invisalign, and how does it work?

Invisalign is the leader in clear aligner orthodontics, utilizing a series of clear, removable plastic aligners that will gradually straighten and align your teeth. You will receive a series of clear aligners from your East Point, Georgia, provider, made just for your teeth. Beginning with the first set in the series, you will wear each set for 22 hours a day for multiple weeks before moving to the next aligner. Once you complete the series, your treatment will be complete!

What are the primary benefits of choosing Invisalign over traditional braces?

First and most important to many East Point, Georgia, patients, they are clear and completely discreet. No visible metal wires or brackets are necessary! Additionally, there are no dietary restrictions. Simply remove your aligners when it is time to eat, but make sure you put them back on afterward so that you can meet the 20- to 22-hour-a-day requirement. Invisalign clear aligners are also more comfortable, require fewer visits to your dentist, and are easy to clean!

How long does Invisalign take to complete?

While the treatment time varies from patient to patient based on the complexity of the issues that need correcting, Invisalign treatments can be completed in as little as six months. Within a matter of weeks, you will begin to see results. On average, 12 to 18 months is about right for moderately complex issues.

How is my progress tracked throughout the treatment?

As you progress through your treatment plan, you will need to make occasional trips to our East Point, Georgia, office so that your progress can be tracked. These visits are fairly quick and should not pose as much of an inconvenience as with traditional metal braces. If, during your exam, any issues are found, you will be given clear instructions on any changes that will need to be made. If no issues are detected, you will continue wearing your aligners as laid out in your initial treatment plan.

Will Invisalign affect my dental hygiene routine?

One of the most convenient features of Invisalign is that they are removable. This makes maintaining your oral hygiene incredibly easy. Remove your aligners so you can brush, floss, and rinse. Put back on your aligners following your routine, and that is it! Because no metal brackets or wires are required, you never have to worry about cleaning around bothersome equipment.

How do I clean and maintain my aligners?

Cleaning your Invisalign clear aligners is quite simple. You just need a soft-bristled brush, lukewarm water, and special Invisalign cleaning crystals or other cleansing tablets (we will advise you on what is best to use). You must brush or, at minimum, rinse your teeth and mouth before reinserting your aligners following meals and snacks.

Will my dental insurance cover the cost of Invisalign?

Most dental insurance companies will cover all or a portion of your Invisalign treatment. You will want to work with your particular carrier to determine how much they will cover so that you know if you will be personally responsible for any of the costs. You can work with our East Point, Georgia, team as well to help get this information.
